Kanturk young guns score a string of hard-fought wins

-

KANTURK U11s (non competitive) were home to Churchvilla last weekend.

They had two games of 6 v 6. All games were tightly contested; however, the physical strength of Churchvilla gave them an overall advantage. Kanturk played exceptionally well and showed a great work rate throughout the games. Well done, boys.

Kanturk AFC U10’s (non competitive) played two matches against Richmond on Sunday morning in Crossbarry. It was a beautiful morning for a game.

Both games where very competitive and the lads did very well. We can see improvement with this group every week. So well done everyone and it was great to see everyone leaving with a smile on their faces.

It was also fantastic to see so many parents there cheering the lads on. Thank you for your support and we hope to see everyone again throughout the season.

Kanturk v Kilreen Celtic on Sunday Oct 6th saw 3rd place take on 4th in the league. Weather conditions were dry with surface rain on the pitch from the previous night.

Kanturk were really up for the game which was made apparent from the start with Colin Healy firing in 2 goals in the first five minutes. This set the tone for the game.

Kanturk piled on lots of pressure on the Kilreen defense which did well after the start they had. Kanturk just looked like they wanted it more and got the reward with Colin rounding off his hat trick.

Second half and Kanturk continued their high tempo play from the first half and gave very little away. Colin, having three goals to his name, added a fourth with Kanturk well in control.

They went on again with another goal from Liam Allen. With the score now 5-0 to Kanturk at the final whistle. Well done to Kanturk as they move into second on the table with a game in hand.

Congratulations to all the Kanturk team. Best for Kanturk were Colin Healy, Liam Allen, Cathal Murphy.

Kanturk U16 V St. Mary’s B Sunday 6th October

Kanturk u16’s 6 - St Mary’s 3. Playing in Gurteenard in good conditions the away side got off to a great start taking the lead after six minutes.

The Kanturk response was quick when Stephen Sheehan latched on to a through ball to finish brilliantly to the back of the net. St Mary’s were still dangerous and took the lead again on the half hour mark.

The home side upped the tempo and were very unlucky not to convert some great chances before half time.

Into the second half Kanturk made it two all with a brilliant strike from a free kick by captain Dylan O’Connor. St Mary’s to their credit pressed again and were rewarded with a third goal.

The home side showed great character to level it up five minutes later with a great finish from Stephen Sheehan.

Into the last quarter Kanturk took the game by the neck and took the lead for the first time with a brilliant strike just outside the box from Oran Moynihan. With their confidence flowing, the home side added another two goals to make it 6-3 through Dylan O’Con-nor and Noah Daly.

Best for Kanturk were Dylan O’Connor, Stephen Sheehan and Simon Murphy. Well done to the whole team.
