Kiskeam look for county final spot

-

KISKEAM and St. Michaels have enjoyed some competitive tussles over the years at premier intermediate ranks and some of those players are sure to be involved when the sides clash in a Co. Junior B semi final at Glantane on Saturday.

Kiskeam landed the Duhallow spoils with an impressive first half surge to better St. Johns. All through , they looked the better side with a number of experienced personel fronting their charge from a side showing better composure and more scoring options.

The outcome placed Kiskeam into the county, their ability to respond tellingly to a Kilshannig revival upon the resumption helped carve out a positive result. At crucial stages, Kiskeam held a definite grip on the proceedings, Daire Murphy and Conor Noonan controlled midfield with Seán Linehan, Jack Daly and Diarmuid Fitzgerald ever alert and determined in defence.

Indeed, Kiskeam’s teamwork and cohesion looked impressive with Noonan and Billy Dennehy delivering goals that allowed the Duhallow kingpins underline their superiority to ease to safety.

St. Michaels are going great guns in football, remarkably, they have three teams remaining in championship football, their top team contesting a Co. Premier IFC semi final against Kanturk. And this third string outfit have been chalking up impressive tallies, shooting six goals past Whitechurch to win the city final and recording a 3-15 to 2-8 triumph at the hands of Ballinhassig in a county quarter final.

With two attacking sides on duty, that will be good enough to generate a competitive battle here where Kiskeam are capable of advancing to a decider.
