KILLAVULLE­N were far too good for Donoughmor­e in the County U-16 HC Div 2 semi final at Glantane on Monday night. From the start the winners dominated. They got on top in the half backline and midfield sectors and their attack in regular supply took some very good scores.

Jamie Magnier had three goals for the Avondhu side in the opening half. They opened with points by Shane and Michael Walsh. Sean Palmer pointed 0-3 to 0-0. Jamie Magnier had his first goal in the 9th minute and followed with another goal two minutes later after good play by Patrick O’Grady. Kian Lane, Ronan Barry and Sean Bartley were very solid with Donoughmor­e depending on the excellent Adam Dinan who had 8 of their 9 points. Adam Dinan opened his sides tally after 12 minutes 2-4 to 0-1. A series of well taken points by Patrick O’Grady, Seamus O’Mahony, Sean Palmer and Michael Walsh opened up a lead 2-9 to 0-1. Dean Barrett pointed for Donoughmor­e. Killavulle­n continued to press hard and they added some good points as they moved 2-12 to 0-5 clear. In the 26th minute Jamie Magnier had his third goal. By half time the winners led 3-14 to 0-5.

On the resumption good play by Shane Walsh led to a Sean Palmer point. Adam Dinan pointed a ‘65 and followed with a free 3-15 to 0-7.

Patrick O’Grady followed with a point under pressure. Both sides made a number of substituti­ons. In the 45th minute O’Grady made it 3-17 to 0-7. Adam Dinan added another two points. Time ran out and it was Killavulle­n who progressed to the Co final against Newcestown.
