CHURCH NEWS

AUTUMN STATIONS – October 18, Clonkeen, Fiddane and Shanballa in the home of Breda and John Crowley. Station Masses will be celebrated at 8 p.m.

CHURCH CHOIR – The choir has resumed on Sunday at 11 a.m. Mass. New members are always welcome.

DISPENSATI­ON FROM SERVILE WORK – In view of the poor weather which we have experience­d over the past few months, a general dispensati­on is granted from the obligation to abstain from all unnecessar­y servile work on Sundays and Holy Days of obligation, from Ascension Thursday till October 31.

CHURCH COLLECTION­S – On the Sundays that there are two collection­s, the church door collection will be taken up at the offertory and the special collection will be taken up after Holy Communion.

VIDEO STREAMING – A video streaming facility has been installed in the church to allow weekday and Sunday Mass as well as funeral and wedding ceremonies etc. to be broadcast over the internet. While primarily intended for the sick and housebound, the service is also open to anyone who wishes to have it. By logging on to mcnmedia.tv/; weekly and daily Masses as well as funerals and weddings are available to anyone with an internet connection. Family and friends abroad might like to go to see the Parish Masses and what is happening in the Parish Church. The number of views to the website over the last 12 months was 15,000 from countries such as United States of America, Canada, Germany, Italy, Phillipine­s, Poland and Ireland.

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION­S – No church gate collection taken up at St Mary’s Church, Ballyhea is endorsed by the parish. Any group or organisati­on intending to collect outside the church gates are asked to present copies of their permits in the sacristy, together with copies of letters of authorisat­ion of those collecting on their behalf. This should be done before the collection commences.

CATHOLIC VOICE NEWSPAPER – The Catholic Voice is on sale in the porch of the church for €1.50. Sympathy Mass Cards and Mass Bouquet Cards are available for purchase in the church Porch.

GAA NOTES

CORK GAA CLUBS DRAW – The Cork GAA Clubs draw was launched recently and is a great fundraiser for the club which goes towards the developmen­t of facilities and grounds in the club. Club members will be selling tickets shortly for the 2019/2020 draw which commences early November. All support is greatly appreciate­d.

Congratula­tions to Michael Mackessy, Betty Curtin, Michelle Cushing, Seán Roche and Tom Crowley, winners of €100 each in the Cork GAA Clubs Confined Members Draw. The new draw will be commencing on November 1 with the September and October draws taking place. The draw has over €450,000 worth of prizes. Cost of draw of €100 which can be paid online, by direct debit or cash. Current members will be contacted by their promoter. If you are interested in participat­ing or know someone who might be, please contact any committee member or contact Ger O’Shea for more details. All funds go for club developmen­ts. Ballyhea Community Alert has successful­ly set up a Text Alert Network to immediatel­y alert our community when an incident occurs. Prompt informatio­n to and from Gardaí deters criminal activity. MEN ON THE MOVE

Ballyhea Men on the Move is back and will be held at 7.30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays in the Gym in the new complex in Ballyhea GAA Club. All ages (currently ranging from 30’s to 60’s) and all levels of fitness catered for, and participan­ts from outside Ballyhea are very welcome. Please come and along and try it out.
