HUNDREDS OF REVELLERS FLOCK TO MALLOW CASTLE TO SOAK UP THE HALLOWEEN FESTIVAL ATMOSPHERE

GLOWING goblins, wily witches and spooky spirits descended on Mallow Castle last Saturday for what has become one of North Cork’s most eagerly anticipated events of the Halloween season.
The colourful revellers were just the tip of the iceberg as upon entering the entering the Castle grounds they were met by a shrieking skeletons, comical clowns and h’ stilt-walkers.
Great musical entertainment, an animal roadshow, pop-ups shops and face painters also added to the electric atmosphere at the annual ‘Spooktacular’ in the shadow of the iconic building.
Earlier on Saturday, the Halloween celebrations got off to a great start in Mallow with a treasure hunt and local businesses pulled out all the stops with spooky and spectacular seasonal window displays.
Meanwhile, the town Plaza provided the perfect setting for live music performed by local acts while the food trails set up by local producers also proved to be very popular.
Mallow Chamber president Pat Hayes said the ‘Spooktacular’, which was organised by Cork County Council in conjunction with the Chamber, and the other events attracted in excess of 2,000 people to the town.
“We were really pleased with the outcome, everyone enjoyed the day and overall people were very happy with the entertainment and of course, we were blessed with a dry sunny afternoon,” said Pat.
Pat went on to thank everyone who volunteered at the event and also Cork County Council members for their input. He paid tribute to all the shops for their sponsorship and said the effort businesses made with great window displays created a wonderful atmosphere throughout the town during the day.
