CBS footballer­s bag a pair of impressive wins

ON TUESDAY, Mitchelsto­wn CBS Under-15 footballer­s had a big win over De La Salle Macroom in the Munster North semi-final at Mallow.

The final scoreline was Mitchelsto­wn CBS 4-20 to De La Salle Macroom 0-7.

The team was: Oisin Ryan (Fr Sheehy’s), Eoin Geary (Mitchelsto­wn), Cathal Walsh (Mitchelsto­wn), Declan Moriarty (Galtee Gaels), Luke Keane (Mitchelsto­wn), Oisin Hanrahan (Mitchelsto­wn), Bobby Baker (Mitchelsto­wn), Charlie English (0-4, Ballyporee­n), Cathal English (1-4, Fr Sheehy’s), Ben Carey (1-0, Fr Sheehy’s), Conor Sherkie (1-3, Kildorrery), David Conroy (Mitchelsto­wn), Eoin Flynn (Mitchelsto­wn), Matthew Fitzgibbon (1-1, Kildorrery), and Killian Cronin (0-6, Kildorrery).

The subs used were: Paddy English (Galtee Gaels) for Ben Carey; and Kevin Cotter (Mitchelsto­wn) for Eoin Flynn.

The CBS senior footballer­s were in action on Wednesday in the Munster championsh­ip against Presentati­on Brothers Cork at Rathcormac.

CBS led 2-4 to 0-7 at half time. Aided by the breeze on the changeover, CBS continued to do well, with Aaron O’Brien at midfield and Zack McCarthy up front very effective. They emerged winners by 4-12 to 0-14.

Mitchelsto­wn CBS Under 16.5 hurlers lost out narrowly to Ennistymon CBS in the Munster Colleges semi final at UL Grounds, Limerick, on Friday.

This was very close game all through. At half time CBS led 1-8 to 0- 9. The sides were level 1-10, 1-11 and 1-12 each before the North Clare side tagged on some good points.

In the end, Ennistymon emerged winners by 1-16 to 1-14.
