‘Hub’ for the holidays pitch for G-teic

-

FANCY extending your Christmas holiday at home in the vicinity of the Múscraí Gaeltacht this festive season?

This is one of the major selling points of G-Teic Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh which is offering workers from city firms in Ireland and abroad, returning to County Cork for the holidays, a great opportunity to carry on their job for a few extra days or weeks by taking a hot desk in the ultra fast broadband facility in the Gaeltacht village.

Hitting the ground running, G-Teic Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh was opened officially on Friday by Agriculture Minister, Michael Creed at an event attended by enterpreneurs and local community group members.

While the facility, which is being managed on behalf of Údarás by Comharchumann Forbartha

Mhúscraí, is open for business since Easter, Friday’s event is expected to add to the momentum of the fast expanding centre.

Boasting 22 hot desks at present and a number of office booths, G-Teic Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh also benefits from a 1 giga byte ultra fast broadband connection.

Deputising for the Cork County Mayor, Cllr, Gobnait Ní Mhuimhneacháin said it was a great day for the Múscraí Gaeltacht. “This is a great facility for someone who might be working in Cork City and who would rather avoid that extra hour to and from work by coming to work here at home.”

Centre manager Caroline Nolan of the Comharchumann emphasised how the vibrant local community in Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh had spread the word about the centre leading to potentisl remote workers coming to see the premises, being impressed and then coming back for a few days before taking up one of the many different deals on offer.

“Our most important job is to attract people to come in here and we wouldn’t have been able to do this without the help of the local community, be it the word from Frank in the shop or Tadhg on the local Coiste Forbartha” she said, adding that people were coming all the time and that someone had called her that morning to arrange to come in the next week. She said the focus of the G-teic in Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh was to create an opportunity for a better work life balance and that this was possible because the village was such a hive of activity due to the vibrancy of the local community. “It’s a great place to live and work,” she said.
