Heigh ho, heigh ho - it’s off to Disneyland Paris we go!

MALLOW-BASED CENTRA STAGE SCHOOL TO DANCE AT DISNEYLAND PARIS

- BILL BROWNE

WHAT has been, by any standard, a phenomenally successful year for Mallow’s Centre Stage School has just been given a magical fairytale ending.

Having recently returned from the prestigious ‘Elite Dance 5,6,7,8 Competition’ in Dublin with an impressive collection of trophies and medals, dancers from the school have now been issued with an invitation to perform at Disneyland Paris next spring.

The 50-strong group of Company Dancers will jet off to the French capital in April after impressing the people at Disney with their moves.

Centre Stage founder and director Aideen McAuliffe explained that each year Disney invites groups from across the world to take part in auditions via video link for the chance to perform in front of visitors at the Paris wonderland.

“I had heard about this from another school in the UK and decided to enter. I can’t even begin to describe the excitement among the dancers when we heard that our audition had been successful,” said Aideen.

The dancers, family members, teachers and chaperones will spend three glorious days exploring the theme park with passes to all of its many attractions. During their stay the dancers will also have the opportunity to participate in performing arts workshops with some of Disney’s world class choreographers.

“To top off this already oncein-a-lifetime holiday, they will experience the joy and excitement of performing for an international audience in one of the most famous places the world. We are also hoping to march in the famous Big Parade, which would be the icing on the cake,” said Aideen.

“This is going to be an amazing experience for all of the dancers, but especially for the younger members who have not travelled on an outing with the school before,” she added.
