THE CHASER

Comes to Scoil Mhuire

THERE was great excitement in Kanturk last Saturday night when Scoil Mhuire hosted the popular ‘Chaser’ show to a full house audience at the Edel Quinn Hall.

Based on the hit TV show, six contestants went up against the Chasers in an attempt to win up to €1,500.

Miriam Downey, Principal of Scoil Mhuire, welcomed everybody before local Councillor John Paul O’Shea and multi All-Ireland winner Rena Buckley took on the role of Chasers and ultimately managed to catch two contestants on the night.

The Show was hosted by Pallas Marketing and provided fantastic entertainment for the audience with a mixture of trivia, local and general questions. The six contestants selected on the night won in excess of €2,700 between them.

The event concluded with the auction of signed jerseys by Rob Heffernan, Mick Galwey, Anthony Nash and Eddie Dunbar as well as a monster raffle before a final address by Denis Keating, Deputy Principal of Scoil Mhuire.

Denis thanked those attending the event and asked that they support the local businesses who had sponsored the adverts and prizes.

He outlined how the money raised, in the region of €23,000, would be put to good use in the school with enhanced canteen facilities the main target for the total raised.

The night concluded with thanks to the organising committee and the wider school community for hosting such a successful night and ensuring enhanced facilities for current and future students of Scoil Mhuire.
