Kanturk Junior B hurlers hit by late goal rush in final

-

KANTURK GAA will hold its annual Mass for Deceased members on Monday next 25th November at the GAA Clubrooms.

This is an annual event which is very important in the club calendar and at this year’s Mass, coming in the lead up to the 50th anniversary on Kanturk winning the Cork Junior Hurling county championship on 30th November 1969. All are welcome to attend and refreshments will be served afterwards. JUNIOR B HURLING:

Kanturk Junior ‘B’ Hurlers were taken to extra time before getting the better of Aghabullogue in the Cork county J’B’HL semi-final played at the Pairc Ui Chaoimh 4G pitch on Tuesday 12th November. Kanturk were 0-11 to 0-04 to the good at the interval with the sides level at 0-14 each at the end of 60 minutes.

When Aghabullogue took a 0-17 to 0-19 lead with three minutes of the second half of extra time left for play, it looked ominous for Kanturk, but a goal from

Donagh Duane turned the game in their favour and Chris Mullane scored the winning point to leave the scores 1-18 to 0-20.

In the final, played on Sunday last 17th November also at the Pairc Ui Chaoimh 4G pitch, with Blarney providing the opposition, Kanturk raced into an 0-8 to 0-04 lead after 20 minutes before being rocked by a two goal blast from Blarney in the closing seven minutes to leave the game level at the interval 0-10 to 2-04.

Blarney’s third goal came in the second minute of the second half and it was an uphill battle for Kanturk from there to the finish and we lost out 0-14 to 3-10 to a more fluid mid Cork side.
