MASS TIMES – Weekend Masses Saturday, November 23 ( Vigil) 7.30 p.m. Sunday, November 24, 8.30 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Weekday Masses: Morning Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. each morning, Monday, November 25, to Saturday, November 30, at 10 a.m.

There will be Adoration and Benedictio­n of the Blessed Sacrament on Thursday after 10 a.m. Mass till 11 a.m. Confession­s will be heard before the Vigil Mass on Saturday evening.

Feast of Christ the King: Next Sunday, November 24, is the feast of Christ the King, the last Sunday in the Liturgical year. Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will take place after the 11 a.m. Mass and will continue till 2 p.m., concluding with Rosary and Benedictio­n.

ST. JOSEPH’S FOUNDATION

CHURCH GATE COLLECTION – The annual church gate collection in aid of St Joseph’s Foundation will take place on Saturday, and Sunday, November 23 24. Your support is hugely important in enabling the Foundation to maintain the services being provided for people with disabiliti­es.

CLUB ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING – The club’s AGM will take place on Friday, November 29, at 8 p.m.

CONGRATULA­TIONS – Congratula­tions to Kilshannig Junior Footballer­s on winning the county title recently.

CORK GAA CLUBS DRAW – The Cork GAA Clubs draw was launched recently and is a great fundraiser for the club which goes towards the developmen­t of facilities and grounds in the club. Club members will be selling tickets shortly for the 2019/2020 draw. All support is greatly appreciate­d. The new draw will be commencing on November 1 with the September and October draws taking place. The draw has over €450,000 worth of prizes. Cost of draw of €100 which can be paid online, by direct debit or cash. Current members will be contacted by their promoter. MEN ON THE MOVE

Ballyhea Men on the Move is back and will be held at 7.30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays in the Gym in the new complex in Ballyhea GAA Club. All ages (currently ranging from 30’s to 60’s) and all levels of fitness catered for, and participan­ts from outside Ballyhea are very welcome. Please come and along and try it out. Buttevant PANTO.

Plans and rehearsals are in full swing for the annual PANTO which is promoted by Buttevant PANTO Club in associatio­n with the Dorada School of Dance Buttevant. This annual extravagan­za is always eagerly awaited for and both participan­ts and audiences are always waiting in anticipati­on for the Curtain Up date. As yet the title of this years’ theme is not known but will become more public as the actual performanc­e date approaches.

CHRISTMAS BAZAAR.

The annual Christmas Bazaar in aid of Saint Johns’ Church of Ireland Church Buttevant is now an annual event in the locality. There are always numerous stalls displaying and selling seasonal items to raise much needed funds to keep this ancient and preserved building intact. There will be home produce seasonal gifts bricabrac and numerous other items on offer during the event. There will also be a surprise visitor to meet the young children as Santa will make a surprise visit at the bazaar. Your admission ticket will also entitle you to a Cuppa and a delicious cake. Your support will much appreciate­d.

BUTTEVANT COMMUNITY COUNCIL.

The Community Council is currently lobbying Councillor­s T.D’s and authoritat­ive organisati­ons and groups with a view to perfect the traffic situation at the Colaiste Mhuire entrance which is causing mayhemwith the willynilly parking being practised by motorists parking at the entrance. This situation is an accident waiting to happen and no doubt will not be rectified until some serious accident occurs there.

Parents and guardians should realise the dangerous situation they are causing by obstructin­g passing traffic and also by parking in the industrial estate where businesses are working hard to make a living. Please be more considerat­e when and where you park when dropping off your childrenat­tending the Colaiste.

The Community Council is also liasioning with Bus Eireann and Cork County Council with the possibilit­y of erecting two bus shelters on the Main Street of Buttevant.

Some dog owners are still oblivious when it comes to cleaningup when their canine and feline pets have deposited their poohdroppi­ngs on the footpaths and walkways within the town. It takes very little time to gather up the animal residue and take it home with your pets.

The Community Council and its’ officers are always available to offer help and adviceand direction to anyone who may need help with the relevant authoritie­s governing bodies and organisati­on in obtaining the advice and help they may need.

SLIMMING WORLD.

A new fitness and slimming programme has commenced in Buttevant. The classes will be held in the Muintir na Tire Hall Buttevant each Saturday commencing at 09.00a.m. All details can be had by contacting Paula on 0831912347.

TRACTOR FUNDRAISIN­G RUN.

A fundraisin­g TractorRun was held on Sunday September 29 the proceeds from which were donated to The Irish Motor Neurone Disease.

This event is dedicated to the memory of a local family member John Gayer, formerly of Boherascru­b, Buttevant, who was struck down by the disease recently. The amount of aponsorshi­p and support was tremendous and attracted numerous onlookers along the way.

BADMINTON.

Buttevant Badminton Club has recommence­d their weekly badminton sessions in the Buttevant G.A.A. Hall on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 08.30p.m.

RELIGIOUS.

The local parish choir will continue rehearsals on the first Monday of each month between 07.15p.m. an 08.00p.m. New members are always welcome.

Parish Folk Groupweekl­y lessons have resumed on Tuesday evenings at 07.00p.m.

Lisgriffin Folk Group has also resumed rehearsals and will continue weekly on Friday evenings in the Church between the hours of 06.00.p.m.and 07.00p.m. inclusive.

CHRISTMAS PARTY

Christmas Party organised by the Mercy Day Care Centre will be held at The Black Rose Bar/ Crossroads Bar Buttevant on Sunday December 01st. 2019 at 02.30 p.m. All details can be had by contacting the Mercy Day Care Centre Buttevant as soon as possible.

CAROL SERVICE.

The annual Christmas Carol Service is again being held this year in Saint Marys’ Church Buttevant.

This annual service will be held on Sunday December 08th. 2019 at 07.OOp.m. and will include all the local schools musical groups and choral organisati­ons offering a varied programme of seasonal songs melodies and music.

Liscarroll ATHLETIC CLUB NOTES

CROSS COUNTRY – This Sunday, November 24, the Irish Life all-Ireland Novice under-23 and Juvenile Even age Cross Country Championsh­ips will take place in Abbottstow­n Co Dublin. Johnny Murphy will be the club’s only athlete competing on the day. Johnny will represent his club, he will also be a member of the Cork and Munster Teams in the boys under-14 Race. We wish Johnny the Best of luck on Sunday. Next Sunday, December 1, the Munster Intermedia­te and Juvenile ‘ B’ Cross Country Championsh­ips will take at Two Mile Borris, Co. Tipperary.

This is the final day of Munster Cross Country.

INDOOR CHAMPIONSH­IPS – Only five weeks till the Indoor Championsh­ips which will take place in Nenagh Indoor Stadium on Sunday, January 5, 2020.

Men and Women under-20 and under-23 Championsh­ips along with Juvenile Combined Events ages boys and girls under-11 to under-16. Athletes should be preparing for these events by attending the various club training sessions each week.

TRAINING – Training for athletes under-13 and younger in Dromina hall every Monday from 7.00 p.m. to 8 p.m. Training as usual for athletes under-14 and older in Liscarroll GAA grounds (weather permitting) and on Friday in Charlevill­e from 6.30 to 7.30 p.m.
