More acts join impressive lineup for Live at the Marquee 2020

THE eclectic nature of the annual Live at the Marquee Music festival has been further underscore­d by the latest batch of acts that have been announced to play the Dockland’s venue next summer.

For what is likely to be the final series of concerts at the site where the ‘Marquee’ has been held annually since 2005, Aiken Promotions has pulled out all he stops to put together a line-up containing some world’s biggest music and comedy acts.

This week it was announced that another clutch of acts will be joining Yusuf/Cat Stevens, Diana Ross, Christy Moore and Jenny Greene and the RTÉ Orchestra on the line up for the 2020 extravagan­za.

Aiken’s ethos of promoting home-grown acts through the festival, Johnny Smacks and Johnny B (aka The 2 Johnnies) will bring their ‘Summer Jam Podcast’ to the Marquee on Saturday, May 30.

Their biggest live podcast show to date will see the duo give their unique and hilarious insight into affairs of the day along with producer Maura, Noel Furlong, their house band and some special guests.

On Friday June 5 the mercurial talent that is Sinéad O’Connor will make her Marquee debut with support from another Irish music legend in the form of singer/songwriter Damien Dempsey for what promises to be a magical night of music and song.

will perform tracks from their eight studios albums, including their latest release the critically acclaimed ‘I Am Easy To Find’.

Two days later Dido, whose album ‘No Angel’ remains the top selling debut by a female British artist worldwide will play the Marquee. The former backing singer with Faithless, Dido has enjoyed a phenomenal­ly successful solo career selling for than 40 million albums worldwide.

In another first for the Marquee comedian John Bishop will take to the stage of the venue on Thursday, June 18. A regular on TV screens, Bishop has sold out venues across the world with his hilarious and insightful commentary on everything from the sublime to the downright ridiculous.

Two nights later British electronic dance pioneers Orbital will headline a line-up featuring special guests Kerri Chandler, Brame & Hamo, Fish Go Deep and Stevie G for a night of world class house music.

After taking a long sabbatical from the live music scene, multi-platimum selling Australian band Crowded House will play the Marquee on Monday, June 29.

Having sold ten million albums worldwide Crowded House one of the most iconic bands ever to emerge from ‘down under’ scoring chart success with single including ‘Don’t Dream It’s Over’ and ‘Weather With You’.

It is anticipate­d that more acts will be unveiled over the coming weeks.
