Promises of a bumper Christmas market in Boherbue

- SHEILA FITZGERALD

AS the festive season gets into top gear, organisers of Boherbue Christmas Market will present their biggest and best market ever on next Saturday, December 7, according to committee secretary Sandra Ryan.

The spacious Village Hall will be jam packed with a selection of Stalls offering home baking, artisan food and drink, crafts, CD’s from local artists and newly launched books. In addition there will be jewellery, accessories, artwork and Christmas decorations.

“We will also be hosting three mini companies from Boherbue Comprehensive and 6th class at our local primary school” Sandra said.

No Christmas Market is complete without the Man in Red and Santa’s Grotto will no doubt be hugely popular with all the boys and girls who want to tell him what they want for Christmas. There will be a photographer on hand to capture the moment for a small fee, but the visit to Santa is completely free.

“For the first time ever we have outside catering which will be set up outdoors under a canopy offering delicious homemade pizza, hot dogs and crêpes. We also have some live music this year from our local talent Sheila Linehan” Sandra Ryan told the Corkman.

In addition, great prizes are up for grabs in the Monster Raffle which has proved incredibly popular in past years.

The Christmas Market Committee choose a local community initiative or charity to support each year from the proceeds of the event. This year we are delighted to be supporting The local St. Vincent De Paul Branch will benefit this year.

After lots of Ho! Ho! Ho! at the Christmas Market which will run from 12-4pm, the Tree lighting ceremony will take place later the same evening.
