Bridge House overcome Horgan’s in darts thriller

BLACKWATER Valley Darts League would like to offer their condolence­s to the immediate and extended family, on the passing of Padraig (Podge) Holmes.

May he rest in peace.

As a mark of respect, the EGM Scheduled for Thursday, January 23 has been postponed until Tuesday, January 28 in the Bridge House at 8-30pm.

Meanwhile, the second leg of the Cup Semi-Finals took place on last Friday and Corkery’s travelled to Kilbrin Social Club trailing 2-6 from the first leg.

It was the home side who struck first. Mike O’Connor defeated Dave O’Leary 3-1. Stephen Connolly overcame John Lynch 3-2 in a close contest to level it.

Pat Healy defeated Johnny Holland 3-1, Alan Mullane defeated Tim O’Sullivan 3-0, Mick Kennedy defeated Will O’Shea 3-1. And Alex Mc Carthy defeated Donal Cullinane 3-1. Kilbrin 5 – 1.

In the doubles Stephen Connolly and Johnny Holland defeated Alan Mullane and William Heffernan 3-0. While Tim O’Sullivan and Will O’Shea defeated Paddy Mc Mahon and Pat Healy 3-2.

Final score: Kilbrin 5 – 3 Corkery’s. Overall, Kilbrin 11 – 5 Corkery’s.

The Bridge House were at home to Horgan’s for their encounter with Horgan’s leading 5-3 from the first leg. The home team got off to a flyer winning the first four singles.

Eddie O’Rourke overcame Chris Holmes 3-2. Gerry Black defeated Patrick Holmes 3-0. Nicky Sherman defeated Robert Harrington 3-1. Damian Carey overcame Edward Phelan 3-2.

Mick Dunlea overcame Sean Mc Gann 3-2 to get Horgan’s on the score sheet and Darren Lynch defeated Adrian Holmes 3-1.

Bridge House 5 – 1 Horgan’s after the singles.

In the doubles Chris Holmes and Willie O’Toole defeated Eddie O’Rourke and Darren Lynch 3-0. Adrian Holmes and Robert Harrington defeated Gerry Black and Nicky Sherman 3-1.

With 5-3 to the Bridge House and a total score of 8 - 8 a play off was required; the best of three games.

In the first, Eddie O’Rourke defeated Robert Harrington 3-2. Chris Holmes defeated Gerry Black 3-1.

With an all square situation prior to the final game it was a toss of a coin but Nicky Sherman defeated Adrian Holmes 3-1 for the Bridge House, winning a place in the final.

Final score: Bridge House 10 – 9 Horgan’s.
