IT’S a short trek for Boherbue to Killarney’s INEC this Saturday for the All Ireland Scór na nÓg Finals, where Cork’s lone hopefuls are doubly represented, going in search of ultimate honours in the hotly competitive national finals.
Promoting the cultural wing of the GAA, the diverse programme of music, song, dance and novelty acts draws participants from all four provinces. In the prestigious staging, Kanturk’s Muireann Vaughan will jointly act as Master of Ceremonies along with Conor Ó Ghallchoir from Donegal.
Cork seek accolades in a double interest from the Duhallow club, carrying the rebel county colours in a bid to repeat some outstanding successes from recent years.
Boherbue stormed home impressive winners in the Munster Final at set dancing. They will seek to continue their victory march from a line up involving Shane Daly, Gavin Daly, Eoghan Moynihan, Eoghan Aherne, Carmel Kelleher, Elisha Daly,Aoife O’Riordan and Aoidhbe Ducey.
Facing Boherbue in the exciting discipline are provincial winners Abbeyknockmoy (Galway), Glenullin (Derry) and St Joseph’s ( Westmeath).
Meanwhile, Boherbue return to familiar ground in the Question Time, a team of
Leah O’Sullivan, Ailish O’Hanlon, Donal Murphy and Dan Sheehan hoping to better last season’s runner up position. It promises to be competitive, also in the field here are Cratloe (Clare), Spa (Kerry), Menlough/ Skehana (Galway), Kilglass (Roscommon), Claremorris (Mayo), Naomh Columba (Donegal), Killeavy (Armagh), Cornafean (Cavan), Wolfe Tones (Meath), Bunbrosna ( Westmeath) and O’Dwyers (Dublin).
Cork teams are renowned for their pursuits in Scór na nÓg, the county credited with 32 All Ireland titles under their belt – and Boherbue can already boast of seven of those.
Fingers are crossed the tally will rise on Saturday, Cork pinning their hopes on Boherbue to deliver the honours in Killarney.
