Meanwhile, Under 13s beaten by Blanchardstown outfit
THE U13 Macroom schoolboys welcomed Blanchardstown, Dublin side Corduff FC to Murrayfield on Saturday afternoon, losing 4-1.
It was a perfect day for football and a combination of super work from the grounds committee and dry weather made for a fantastic surface.
A large crowd attended and witnessed a strong start from the home side. The first chance came after Regan Wong was fouled. Centre half Cian O’Sullivan’s effort was well saved by Lynch in the Corduff goal. Macroom continued to press with Blessed Ndhlazulwana and Billy Coleman doing well. On 18 minutes Macroom went ahead.Coleman’s corner was punched half clear by the keeper but headed back in by the perfectly placed Cian O’ Sullivan.
Corduff came into the game approaching half time and full back Gavin Leahy did brilliantly to clear off the line. On the stroke of half time the visitors were level. Macroom found the going tough in the second half as the Dublin outfit asserted themselves further. They took the lead with a shot across Kuba Ciaston in the Macroom goal, a third goal soon followed and late on it was four. Both sides were deservedly applauded off the field
