- U13 National Cup, last 32: Macroom 1 Corduff FC 4

THE U13 Macroom schoolboys welcomed Blanchards­town, Dublin side Corduff FC to Murrayfiel­d on Saturday afternoon, losing 4-1.

It was a perfect day for football and a combinatio­n of super work from the grounds committee and dry weather made for a fantastic surface.

A large crowd attended and witnessed a strong start from the home side. The first chance came after Regan Wong was fouled. Centre half Cian O’Sullivan’s effort was well saved by Lynch in the Corduff goal. Macroom continued to press with Blessed Ndhlazulwa­na and Billy Coleman doing well. On 18 minutes Macroom went ahead.Coleman’s corner was punched half clear by the keeper but headed back in by the perfectly placed Cian O’ Sullivan.

Corduff came into the game approachin­g half time and full back Gavin Leahy did brilliantl­y to clear off the line. On the stroke of half time the visitors were level. Macroom found the going tough in the second half as the Dublin outfit asserted themselves further. They took the lead with a shot across Kuba Ciaston in the Macroom goal, a third goal soon followed and late on it was four. Both sides were deservedly applauded off the field
