Mallow mom launches her own perfume brand ‘nationwide’
VIEWERS of RTE’s popular series Nationwide on Monday got the first glimpse of Mallow lady Nora Irwin’s new perfume brand, ‘ Arona’.
Arona is being marketed as an Irish premium solid perfume brand that is made using organic beeswax and pure natural essential oils. Mallow native Nora is both the founder and creative designer of the new range which come in three modern fragrances of ‘Delicate Rose’, ‘Fresh Citrus’ and ‘ Calming Lavender’.
Nora has always had a passion for perfumes and went to London to study the ‘arts’ of fragrances and how they uplift our day.
“As children my sister and I were surrounded by amazing perfumes as we had a relative who worked as a formulator of perfume in New York,” said Nora who also recalls parcels with perfume being delivered to her home on a regular basis.
That upbringing helped Nora grow up training her nose to differentiate between all the different fragrances. This lifetime passion combined with an interest in nature, commitment to sustainability and eco-friendly products planted a seed of a business idea in Nora’s mind.
“As a working mother with a hectic lifestyle, I had the idea to create a collection of fragrances for the busy woman on the go,” added Nora. This idea was developed when she was fortunate to be accepted on the EXXCEL Female Entrepreneurial programme in the Rubicon Centre In CIT.
Following her competition of that programme she was selected as a participant on Enterprise Ireland’s ‘New Frontiers Programme’ graduating in 2019.
This helped Nora with the foundation stones of her business, Arona solid perfume collection, which was officially launched at Showcase 2020 last week in the RDS main hall to the national and international gift and skincare market.
