Scór na bPaistí semi-finals opens

DUHALLOW national school kids are looking ahead to participat­ing in the highly popular divisional Scór na bPaistí cultural orientated competitio­ns.

Confined to national school children, Duhallow dates confirmed are three semi finals down for decision. The first semi final goes ahead on Sunday in Boherbue (2pm) with clubs/schools from Boherbue, Kiskeam, Dromagh, Kanturk, Ballyhass, Tullylease, Lyre and Hollymount participat­ing.

The second semi operates at Rockchapel on Saturday, February 8 (3pm), catering for Rockchapel, Newmarket, Knockaclar­rig, Meelin, Ballydesmo­nd, Lismire, Banteer and Kilbrin.

Completing the semi-final schedule is the Cullen staging on Sunday, February 9 (2pm) with clubs/schools from with Cullen, Millstreet, Knocknagre­e, Freemount, Rathcoole, Derrinagre­e, Cloughoula and Kilcorney involved.

The divisional final is scheduled for Saturday, February 15 in the Edel Quinn Hall, Kanturk at 1.30pm. Meanwhile, the Duhallow Senior Scór Finals goes ahead in Cullen Community Centre on Friday, February 7 at 8pm with a full itinerary promised from competing clubs from throughout the division.

Clubs are encouraged to promote the activity with individual­s and groups catered in the diverse schedule.

Duhallow Scór Chairman Liam Buckley thanks the continued involvemen­t of Kanturk Credit Union and encouraged the participat­ion of all schools and clubs within the division in a full and comprehens­ive programme catering for both individual and team members.

The extensive schedule focuses on figure/set dancing, solo singing, recitation, novelty act, instrument­al music, ballad groups and question time.

Best of luck is extended to the Boherbue Quiz team and Set Dancers participat­ing in the All-Ireland Scór na nÓg Finals in Killarney on this Saturday. And well done to Muireann Vaughan, Kanturk on her selection as co host to the prestigiou­s staging.
