Fine showings by Boherbue in All-Ireland Scór contests
DUHALLOW representatives made huge contributions to a highly entertaining All-Ireland Scór na nÓg Finals in Killarney’s INEC on Saturday last.
Promoting the cultural wing of the GAA, the diverse programme of music, song, dance to novelty acts drew participants from all four provinces, and from the intense competition the hopes from a double Boherbue involvement, Cork’s only representatives over the weekend, fell just short.
Their question time team of Leah O’Sullivan, Ailish O’Hanlon, Donal Murphy and Dan Sheehan finished in fourth position, behind three-in-a-row winners Cornafean from Cavan.
Meanwhile, the gallant efforts of a young Boherbue Set Dance group, comprising Shane Daly, Gavin Daly, Eoghan Moynihan, Eoghan Aherne, Carmel Kelleher, Elisha Daly, Aoife O’Riordan and Aoidhbe Ducey, also came up short against Galway
winners Abbeyknockmoy.
Another key Cork involvement in Killarney was that of UCC Pharmacy student Muireann Vaughan from Kanturk.
Ms Vaughan jointly compeered the proceedings along with Donegal’s Conor Ó Gallachóir.
At domestic level, the second semi-final of the Kanturk Credit Union Duhallow Scór na bPaistí operates at Rockchapel on this Saturday, February 8 (3pm), catering for Rockchapel, Newmarket, Knockaclarrig, Meelin, Ballydesmond, Lismire, Banteer and Kilbrin.
Completing the semi-final schedule is the Cullen staging on Sunday, February 9 (2pm), with clubs/schools from Cullen, Millstreet, Knocknagree, Freemount, Rathcoole, Derrinagree, Cloughoula and Kilcorney involved.
The divisional final is scheduled for Saturday, February 15, in the Edel Quinn Hall, Kanturk at 1.30pm.
Meanwhile, the Duhallow Senior Scór Finals go ahead in Cullen Community Centre on this Friday night at 8pm, with a full itinerary promised from competing clubs scattered throughout the division.
