St Dominic’s 6-17 Grange 0-2

THE Avondhu Under-21 Football Championships got underway at Ballyhooly on Saturday when St Dominic’s ran out easy winners over Grange in the O’Sullivan Lewis Accountants (Mitchelstown) Under-21 CFC.

As the scoreline suggests the Glanworth/Shanballymore combination dominated in key sectors all through. Early pressure yielded some well taken scores by Aaron Noonan, Dylan Connolly, Jake Buckley and Colm Whelton that moved them 0-6 to 0-1 in front by the 19th minute – the Grange point by Colin Shealy. Grange were dealt a blow moments later when they lost the services of key player Darragh Scott through injury. Aaron Boyce with a free reduced the margin to four points but this was the closest they could get to their opponents. In the 22nd minute St Dominic’s struck for the games opening goal when Jake Buckley set up Dylan Connolly for a well taken goal. Just before the break Jake Buckley scored a cracking goal that helped them hold a 2-8 to 0-2 interval lead.

On the changeover the winners dictated from the offset with Dylan Mullins, Colm Whelton, Conor Dennehy, Peter Condon, Dylan Connolly, Jack Fogarty, Jake Buckley and Aaron Noonan in devastating form. They added a further 4-9 in this half the goals by Jake Buckley and Aaron Noonan that sealed the outcome long before the final whistle.
