Rathmore panto still drawing the crowds

-

THE annual Rathmore panto is drawing the crowds and its current run of ‘The Old Woman who Lived in a Shoe’ continues to Sunday.

Once again, the Marian Players have assembled an all star cast in Rathmore Community Centre that includes many familiar faces, in addition to new talent from East Kerry and into Western Duhallow, much to the delight of spokesperson Val Moynihan.

“The main ingredients are the wealth of local talent who will be presenting a show which is stuffed with comedy where all concerned embark on numerous twists and turns. This is our 33rd production and the fact it’s running this long tells you it’s a very enjoyable event,” he said.

“Overall we have about 70 children and 50 adults taking part, that tells something of its appeal and popularity with members drawn from across East Cork and North Cork”, added Val.

Lead role of Mrs Bun is played by Carmel O’Keeffe with Millstreet brother and sister Conor and Jayme Linehan performing as Nanny Rose Trellis and Alice, while Genie O’Leary and Mary Dilworth fill the role of Genie of the Boot.

Also performing are Shane Dillane, Greta Cronin, Katelyn Murphy, Mike Cronin, Mary Hickey, Jimmy Kelly, Brian Hickey, David O’Connor. Brian Kelly, Emer Nagle, Matt Riordan, Margaret O’Sullivan, Eabha Healy, John Wall, Muireann Healy and Ava Twomey.

Elsewhere, taking centre stage are a chorus of Ciara Guerin, David Reen, Dermot O’Keeffe, Denis O’Shea, Diane O’Sullivan, Elaine O’Riordan, Greta Cronin, Jim O’Sullivan, John Wall, Katelynn Murphy, Louise Barry, Mairead Carmody, Michael Dilworth, Miriam O’Sullivan, Nora O’Sullivan and Patrick Delaney.

Adding to the enjoyment of the production is a dance troupe comprising Kelly Brosnan, Katie O’Sullivan, Megan McCarthy, Alex Has, Kornelia Cybul, Lily Sheehan, Lily O’Brien, Caoimhe Dineen, Maggie Buckley, Aoife Nagle, Maura O’Keeffe, Gemma Collins, Michelle Fleming and Alice O’Leary.
