Killavullen GAA mark a great 2019
A LARGE crowd of almost 200 people recently at Mallow’s Hibernian for a victory social celebrating what was a hugely successful 2019 for Killavullen GAA Club.
In his address club chairman Joe Howard thanked all of the coaches for volunteering their time saying they were all “a massive credit” to the club and the local community and told all the players the club was “very proud” of them and their achievements.
“It makes us all very proud to see how you commit to your training, how you support each other, how you play incredibly hard and the sacrifices you all make in playing our game,” said Joe.
“We are particularly proud when so many of you give your time to help coach the very young members of our club. We are also very proud of the way you have responded to knock-backs, defeat and disappointment. We know that

you see them for what they are, just bumps in the road in a long journey of playing our game.”
In his speech guest of honour, senior hurler Mark Coleman, emphasised how Killavullen had ‘raised the bar’ in 2019 and challenged the club and players to sustain that high level of success and energy, drive and determination going forward.
Other speakers included Michael Rea, Stephen Carey, Dave Brosnan who all lavished praise on the successful teams, while juvenile chairman Tom Barry spoke of his joy at being involved with the club and how help was never more than a
phone call away.
A special presentation of flowers was also made to Rosemaria Dorgan, who recently stepped down as juvenile secretary.
John Hartnett stressed the importance of the team ethic and how important it was for all of the players to look out for one another, with Barry Murphy, manager of the successful U-21 team concluding all the speeches.
Once the formalities had been observed and medal presentations it was time to party, with the event continuing well into the wee hours.
