Canon John issues message to parishioners as we face unprecedented challenges
AMIDST unprecedented times, Millstreet Parish Priest Canon John Fitzgerald assures parishioners of his prayers to those at home, those who are living around the world and especially those working on the front-line.
“The safety guidelines that have been put in place to contain the spread of COVID-19 have impacted on the way we practice our faith. Our Masses will continue to be celebrated behind closed doors and will be transmitted locally on our Church TV, and I am grateful to Sean Radley for the transmission of our Masses through the Cork Music Station (corkmusicstation.com)”, he said.
“This transmission is allowing those who are not near their loved ones to feel connected and this is very important during this time.
“As you are aware the situation and spread of COVID-19 is continuously changing, and Bishop Ray Browne and the Diocesan Office are continuously updating our Parishes regarding best practice for the safety of our clergy and parishioners”, said Canon John.
In accordance with updated guidelines received, there will be no First Friday Calls for the month of April, but Masses will be offered for parishioners intentions and well-being. And from further restrictions announced, the Diocesan Office, Millstreet Parish Office and all churches will remain closed until April 12.
“I want to thank you for all the encouragement and support you continue to give me and I wish you and your families continued health and safety”, Canon John concluded.
