Plans for Church Easter to be broadcast

-

IN the light of the most recent Covid-19 restrictions, Bishop Crean has instructed that all church buildings are to remain closed until 12th April.

As it is important to guarantee that church surfaces (seats, kneelers, doors, rails shrines etc.) are wiped down and properly cleaned regularly, this would place an inordinate burden and responsibility on priests, sacristans, and volunteers. This action, which is not taken lightly, is also the only way of guaranteeing that vulnerable people who might be so inclined to call to the Church to pray or light a candle are more encouraged to stay at home and keep within the regulations.

Kanturk Parish Office can still be contacted for any matter by email at kanturkparishoffice@gmail.com.

Names to be included in the anniversaries to be read out at the Sunday Mass on Parish Radio can be emailed to the Parish Office.

Mass is broadcast weekdays and Sundays on Parish radio at 10am. Tune your radio to 107.2 FM.

Easter ceremonies from Kanturk (without a congregation ) to be broadcast on Parish Radio as follows:

Holy Thursday: Mass of The Lord’s Supper at 7.30 pm.

Good Friday: Celebration of the Lord’s Passion at 3.00pm, Stations of the Cross at 7.30 pm.

Easter Sunday: Mass at 10.00am, Forgiveness of Sins and Easter Duty.

Church teaching affirms that if a person cannot get to Confession it is sufficient to confess one’s sins to God, seeking forgiveness and with the intention of going when next possible to Confession. God forgives the sins and the person is renewed in heart and soul. When the opportunity then arises later to go to Confession, he or she should do so.

At his morning Mass on March 20th, Pope Francis spoke about this doctrine: “If you don’t find a priest to go to confession, speak to God ... Ask His forgiveness with all your heart with an act of contrition, and promise Him, ‘afterward I will go to confession’. You will return to God’s grace immediately.”
