Duhallow Primary Care Complex

Timely access to affordable care at heart of new Complex

-

WE are delighted to be coming to the opening of Duhallow Primary Care Complex which will contain the Newmarket Primary Care Centre of the HSE, Ath Trasna Medical Centre and Duhallow Physiotherapy, as well as a Health Innovation Wing.

Expanding Community and Primary Care is at the heart of the Slaintecare Vision, the new vision for the future of healthcare in Ireland. The ambition of Slaintecare is to provide timely access to affordable care, near to the patient, and near to communities. It is felt that this will improve the client/patient experience, improve the clinician experience, lower costs and promote better health outcomes.

The driving force for the development of Primary Care Centres (PCC) is the desire to support the implementation of new models of care and the delivery of services in high quality modern facilities.

The Department of Health’s publication: Project Ireland 2040, underlines the need to develop modern, well - equipped and accessible infrastructure, as a key to changing the way we deliver care to our population.

It is felt that a PCC can support the delivery of integrated care by facilitating closer coordination and cooperation between health professionals from across different disciplines. They will also provide a single point of access to services for the individual and can serve as a resource, more broadly for the community, creating a focal point for local health initiatives or providing community groups with a place to meet.

This building has been designed, not just to be a Health building, but to be a healthy building, part of a health system. Everybody belongs to this health system, which comprises all organisations, people and actions whose primary intent is to promote, restore or maintain health. In the case of the population of North Western Duhallow, this health system is for you. All General Practitioners, and the patients of all practices can access the services of the Primary Care unit.
