-

DUHALLOW Physiotherapy is a private physiotherapy and sports injury clinic owned by husband and wife team Dan and Maria McCabe. Proudly situated within the newly opened Newmarket Primary Care Centre, Duhallow Physiotherapy will offer Chartered Physiotherapy in a state of the art facility. With ample free parking and disabled access, Duhallow Physiotherapy has private treatment rooms, male and female therapists and a rehabilitation area which can also host exercise classes.

Dan, a native of Dromtarriffe, has been working in Galway City for the past seven years spending two seasons as physiotherapist for the Connacht rugby team before five years in a busy private clinic. Dan has a keen interest in musculoskeletal issues especially sports and running injuries, ACL rehabilitation, hip and groin injuries, shoulder injuries and foot conditions. He also has a Degree in Sport and Exercise Science and is a firm believer in exercise and movement as a pillar of health.

Maria, who is originally from Longford, has worked in private practice in Longford and has spent the last five years working in a busy city centre GP and physiotherapy clinic in Galway.

Maria has a special interest in Pilates and back/neck pain and women’s health including ante and post-natal care, incontinence and pelvic pain. Maria has worked as team physiotherapist with many teams and sports: Ireland Women’s Hockey, Connacht Women’s Rugby and Galway U17 and U20 Men’s Hurling.

Extended initial assessments are a key feature that allow the physiotherapists to build up a full picture of the source of the symptoms. A routine initial visit (usually 45 minutes) will include the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of all musculoskeletal injuries including back/ neck pain, shoulder problems, foot and ankle disorders and knee pain. They also specialise in post-surgical rehabilitation for example total knee and hip replacements. Dry needling and acupuncture are offered as well as deep tissue massage and custom orthotics.

Physiotherapist led and designed exercise classes will be offered once the centre is up and running, including Pilates, golf fitness classes, general fitness classes, osteoporosis classes and back health classes. There is a lot of evidence for resistance training to help with osteoporosis, sarcopenia and osteoarthritis and these specifically designed classes are designed to benefit the client physically as well as giving an enjoyable social outlet.

Duhallow Physiotherapy will be delighted to welcome the people of North Cork into their clinic and hope to help all customers achieve their fitness and health goals in 2020 and beyond.
