Duhallow Primary Care Complex

What does this mean for Duhallow?

-

WE live in a geographical area where health care support has been dispersed and varying in the level of availability and of eligibility for those services. We would hope to provide a network of Primary Care Centres which would support the care workers in providing care in a fair and transparent way to our population. This is the first of those centres in the area.

The centre brings together Public Health and Community Nurses, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Dieticians, Home Helps, Dental Health, Mental Health, Counselling, Health Promotion, Support groups. It will have the required administration to support the health care professionals in achieving better outcomes for patients. We would look forward to the introduction of key workers, to help patients to navigate the health services, for those with complex care needs.

We would hope that there would be a significant emphasis on learning, together, and with the recipients of care, so that we can maximise the health gain. We already have a rich heritage in this area of training of medical students and post-graduate doctors in general practice. Only by building on this will we guarantee the sustainability of the health system of Duhallow. We would hope to extend this ethos of training our successors to nursing, physiotherapy and other allied disciplines.
