COVID 19

The saying nothing happens in Cill na Martra sounded very hollow recently when a long list of cancellations kicked in, when everyone was asked to refrain from large gatherings a few weeks back.

Life appeared to be at a standstill at first, but slowly people’s resilience and acceptance of circumstances saw activities happening within safety guidelines. The lovely Spring weather allowed cattle back out in pasture and farm work resuming as land dried up. The hum of lawnmowers broke the silence in gardens and spring cleaning began in earnest. The longer days were perfect for walking and cycling in family groups.

Thankfully people are complying fully with HSE advice, namely hand washing, staying apart and remaining at home as far as possible. Everyone appreciates the sacrifice of the frontline workers and supports them by complying fully with HSE advice. Together everyone can play a part in overcoming this epidemic.

SILENT CHURCHES

The saddest aspect of the present restrictions is that both our Churches are silent for the first time since they were built in the middle of the 19th century. Parishioners are tuning into RTE NEWS NOW at 10:30am for daily Mass on Saorview Channel 22 and Sky 521 or Church Services.tv for Sunday and weekday Masses.
