Live sounds direct to your sitting room thanks to DeBarras

- BILL BROWNE

WITH venues across Cork closed down for the foreseeable future, DeBarras in Clonakilty is offering fans starved of the live music experience the chance to hear some of Ireland’s top contemporary musicians perform from the comfort of their own homes.

Aptly entitled the ‘Sitting Room to Sitting Room Sessions’, it kicked off last month and has proved so popular that the venue has lined up an impressive list of gigs for the month of April.

Over the last week this has included performances by John Spillane, Rawney and Lauren Guillery.

Ray Blackwell from DeBarras said the idea was to bring the unique atmosphere of the venue into homes across the county from sitting rooms across the globe.

“For the strange times we find ourselves in, some of our favourite musicians will be bringing the music from their sitting room to yours. They will recreate DeBarras, or a DeBarras vibe, in their own home and perform a gig,” said Ray

The live performances will be streamed nightly on DeBarras Facebook page at 9.30pm, and at 8pm on Sundays.

“The upcoming sessions feature musicians based in sitting rooms all around Ireland, Mexico, Spain, Australia, and beyond. Stay cool out there – we can do this,” said Ray.
