Millstreet students in running for UNESCO environmental title
Public can vote on their preferred projects
NO less than three projects from Millstreet Community School are in the running for the prestigious international ECO-UNESCO ‘Young Environmentalist’ Award.
Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, this year’s final will be decided by a people’s vote and the voting is currently open. The winner of the title is due to be announced on You Tube next Thursday.
“Our teams have worked hard all year, come up with fantastic ideas and now need your support,” said Millstreet Community School Principal, Pól Ó Síodhcháin.
The projects were originally successful in reaching the BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition in January. They were three of five projects from the school that made it through this year.
“The students and their teachers have been refining their presentations and continuing their research all year,”
Principal Ó Síodhcháin said..
“They have been engaged in online discussions since the enforced school closure last March.
“The use of Microsoft Office 365 by the school has enabled their collaboration and discussion to continue in the cloud and has resulted in their selection for the final of YEA 2020.
“Their achievement is to be lauded and the school community of Millstreet and beyond would appreciate any votes.”
