KANTURK is a town built on the rivers Allow and Dallow and this means that we have a number or bridges, and these make the town a unique place.

The main town bridge is a beautiful structure in the form of an arch bridge. The fact that it is central to everything in the town it is a main focal point in the town. This year the Tidy Towns Committee are making use of this focal point by putting a floral display on the bridge.

This is incorporated into the handrail that was put on the bridge as a safety precaution. The committee have put brackets on to the rail to hang some hanging floral baskets, which when the flowers bloom will add a mass of colour to bridge. This will improve each year to enhance the structure of the bridge.

Kanturk Tidy Towns committee are back in action after the Coronavirus lockdown and they are working hard to make the town a beautiful place and lift our spirits after the tough times we have gone through. The volunteers work in pairs, observing two metre social distancing as outlined by the HSE.

Even though there is no Tidy Towns Competition this year it is vital from a business point of view that we keep our town looking lovely. While the committee has a long list of areas in our town that need improving. Kanturk is a very beautiful town and we feel extremely lucky to live here.

With a little help we can we can keep Kanturk tidy and make sure that it remains a place to live and rear a family.

The Committee meets in the park every Tuesday evening where the jobs for that evening are allocated. The committee are appealing for more volunteers to join us. Be assured that if you come along you will be made very welcome.
