Cork TD defends going to Bobby Storey’s Funeral
SINN Féin Cork North Central TD Thomas Gould has defended attending the Funeral of Sinn Féin official and former IRA commander Bobby Storey in Belfast on Tuesday.
The attendance of Sinn Féin leadership figures from throughout Ireland at the Funeral has sparked criticism as there appeared to be a huge crowd in attendance, with scant regard for social distancing guidelines.
“I attended the Funeral of Bobby Storey as a comrade and out of respect for his work in the peace process,” said Thomas Gould, who said he made the 400km trip to represent the Cork City branches of Sinn Féin.
“He was an incredibly well-respected figure in Irish Republicanism.”
He claimed the Funeral was well stewarded.
