Credit Union survey highlights the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on health and finances

THE results of a survey undertaken by the North Cork-based Synergy Credit Union have offered a fascinatin­g insight into the impact of Covid-19 on Irish society and their experience­s with the credit union during the pandemic.

More than 760 members of the branch, which has a large catchment area covering the Fermoy, Watergrass­hill, Kildorrery and Leamlara circle, responded to the survey, which addressed topics including the effectiven­ess public health measures during the pandemic, its affect on their personal finances and the future of the Irish economy.

Among its key findings were that more than three-quarters of those surveyed were concerned about their health and that of their families, many said that they have, or will, be financiall­y impacted by the crisis with 29% saying their salaries either have been or will be reduced and 80% of those surveyed believed the Irish economy will be in a worse position in 2021.

Overall, the respondent­s expressed satisfacti­on with the way Synergy had performed during the pandemic, with more than 90%
