Members expectations about the Irish economy:
* 80% of the respondents felt that the Irish economy will be worse in 2021.
* 25% of the members stated that they will be borrowing during 2020.
* Members want to see the credit union offer more services such as insurance products with younger members looking for pension and mortgage products.
Ms Cotter also urged members to ‘ think local’ when shopping.
“Community spirit has never been so important than during the pandemic, and only by supporting each other will we overcome the challenges that we face,” she said.
Synergy chairman Pat Leogue he was delighted the survey highlighted the professional service offered by staff during the pandemic.
“They, like all of us have been very nervous about the dangers of Covid-19 but they have all put their shoulders to the wheel in order to ensure the safety of the membership and their colleagues, it really has been a team effort,” said Mr Leogue.
