Since our return to work the sale of cars has surpassed all expectations

THE Corkman recently spoke to Connie Tarrant, Dealer Principal of E. Tarrant & Sons Car Sales Banteer. Connie expressed his gratitude to all who wished them well and who continue to support them since their re-opening.

He went on to say that E.Tarrant & Sons are committed to ensuring the health and safety of all employees, customers and their families. “We were delighted to welcome back both our staff and customers on the 18th of May after the pandemic guidelines were lifted for both vehicle sales and aftersales services,” said Connie.

“Since our return to work the sale of both new and used cars has surpassed all our expectations and we are seeing an increased amount of enquires for cars across all price ranges. This is in no doubt helped by the excellent finance rates on offer by our partner bank, VWFS”.

SKODA Ireland has confirmed to us at E. Tarrant & Sons that the launch of the all-new SKODA Octavia is rescheduled for September. Originally planned to go on sale this June, one of Ireland’s best selling cars was hampered by high demand from other European markets, combined with factory closures due to the Covid19 crisis, that has restricted the availability and supply for Irish customers.

“The Octavia has been a firm favourite with Irish buyers since it first appeared back in 1998. There are over 56,000 Octavia cars on Irish roads today with nearly 19,000 of these purchased since 2015. With a sharp new exterior design, elegant new interiors more safety equipment and the latest technology the Octavia will straddle several segments, potentially worrying some more traditionally executive-segment rivals.”

Engine-wise a 1.5 TSI, 150 bhp petrol will be offered initially. The familiar 1.6

TDI Diesel unit that was offered in the Octavia range previously will be replaced with a 2.0 TDI, 115bhp. A more powerful 2.0 TDI, 150 bhp with 7-speed DSG transmission will also be available.

In other news, SKODA Ireland has also onfirmed they are offering three-month warranty extensions to 2,300 customers whose warranty was due to expire during the Covid19 pandemic. “We here at E. Tarrant & Sons are offering a free vehicle health check to all our customers as well as a timing belt replacement offer of just €450 including VAT on all Skoda vehicles for the months of July and August,” said Connie Tarrant.
