LISCARROLL
LISCARROLL AC
Like most clubs in the country Liscarroll AC members have been anxiouslywaiting for a return to activity. Covid-19 has had many different affects on sport, especially team sports. Athletics has suffered a lot from the non availability of places, to just simply go for a run.
At this point in time, some clubs have started to open up. This Club will start off, with all the rules, regulations and restrictions that have been put on us. To start with, training will take place on Monday nights, venue is not sure at the moment, but parents and athletes will be notified by email on Fridays.
CANCELLATIONS
Liscarroll AC had to cancel the 5k race in Doneraile Park at Easter and following a meeting of the club last week, it has been decided to canel this year’s Annual Open Sports and the 7 mile and 5k road races in August. This was done so as to avoid bringing large numbers of people into the parish and surrounding parishes, and to avoid the possibility of spreading the Coronavirus.
There are no county or Munster track and field championships for the remainder of the year. Cross country is possible in October.
There will be the following:
August 22 -- All-Ireland Senior and U23 Championships in Santry.
August 29 -- All-Irerland u17, 18, 19 Championships in Santry.
Sept 5 -- All-Ireland Junior Championships in Santry.
Sept 12 -- All-Ireland Combined Events U14 and upwards in Santry.
All-Irelands for
Covid19 infections.
Please obey and comply with relevant traffic and prohibitive restrictions.
RELAXATION OF THE COVID19 CONDITIONS

VOLUNTARY HELP/ PARTICIPATION
Many of you may have noticed over a few weekends past that Cork County Concil dispatched a team of workers to Buttevant Town on a general cleanup and tidy/makeover to improve the appearance of the town having suffered commercially financially employment areas and community life in general with the introduction of the Covert19 Pandemic restrictions.
This occasion was introduced to help raise the spirits mentally and physically of those residents who were housebound and restricted in their daily life and routines.
As a result Buttevant Community Council is asking local residents who may have a Community Tree or Flower/Seat Display adjacent to their house dwelling or business would they if possible or when convenient to them to water the trees or plants and keep their area tidy and presentable to make our town viable attractive to the passing footfall and to possibly new residents or potential businesses and development.
Your help no matter how or in what ever way will be greatly appreciated.
Do support local businesses enteprises and developments and employment locally.
Keep your business local and your locality in business.
Thanking you in anticipation of your grateful support.
OUR LADYS’ HOLY WELL
Since time immomorial Shrines’ and Holy Wells’ in remote country areas have been part of Irish Life Folklore and places of worship for generations. Many of these places of adoration and prayer have been neglected and overgrown from lack of care and attention and regular makeover. Recently in Buttevant a former HOLY WELL has been cleared up resurrected and made more than presentable by voluntary labour again to be used as a place of prayer adoration and peaceful contemplation for everybody to visit and spend some time in personal and peaceful contentment.
The Holy Well can be visited by entering the Waterhouse Works area via the Doneraile Road entrance. Proceed along with the Awbeg River on your right hand side passing the Weir adjacent to the former Mill and proceed along that track and the Well will become visible to you as you proceed along through what was once used as a regular trail and country walk in former times.
This Holy Well has been cleared cleaned and given a New Look by some young determined and dedicated Buttevant persons. The whole plan and work was carried out and completed by local electrical contractor John Pat Murphy assisted by local resident Damien Lordan with the Art work and general appearance and presentation carried out by John Pat Murphys’ daughter, Ellie Murphy.
Congratulations and well done to these three local Buttevant residents for their industrious and dedication to their work and endeavour.
