Mary Egan

The death occurred at Strawhall Nursing Home, Fermoy, on July 2 of Mary (Maureen) Egan (née Lyons), Cairn Court, Duntaheen Road, Fermoy, and formerly of Killee, Mitchelsto­wn. The late Mary was predecease­d by her husband, Maurice. She was a popular member in her local community. In accordance with Government Guidelines and HSE directions in relation to public gatherings, her Funeral was held in private. Requiem Mass was held on Saturday in the Parish Church, Mitchelsto­wn, with burial to the adjoining Cemetery.

To her son, Brendan; daughter, Margaret; daughter-in-law, Bernadette; son-in-law, Dominic; grandchild­ren, Caitriona, Sile, Kieran, Annie, Thomas, Joseph, Brendan, Abigail, Patrick, Kitty and James; great-grandchild­ren; sisters-in-law, Phil and Mary; nephews; nieces; relatives; neighbours and many friends, we tender our sincere sympathy.

Dan Roche

The death occurred on July 3 at Cork University Hospital of Dan Roche, ‘Enoh Rua’, Ballinwill­in Inner, Mitchelsto­wn. The late Dan was in his 92nd year. He was well-known in sporting activities. He was formerly Manager of Mitchelsto­wn Co- Op (Dairygold) and Trout Anglers Federation of Ireland.

He was predecease­d by his wife, Sue (née Farran).

The late Dan gave a life time of service to angling. He originally became involved in Angling as Secretary of Kilworth Trout Anglers, a position he held for over 15 years. When he moved home to Mitchelsto­wn, he became involved in the local club. He was elected Chairman of Mitchelsto­wn club on the death of Dr O’Flynn in 1981.

In his position as Chairman over many years, he was a key figure in a wide range of activities of concern to the club.

For example he quietly and effectivel­y obtained compensati­on following all serious fish kills on the local rivers, when kills were at the rate of several a year during the ‘ 80s.

The idea of forming a federation of all the Angling clubs on the Lower Blackwater Valley, known as the United Trout Anglers, came from the late Dan Roche. He had the ability to convince all clubs in the region of the advantages of having such a body, which would deal with issues and concerns of mutual interest to all clubs.

His Funeral was held in private in accordance with Government advice and HSE regulation­s regarding public events. Requiem Mass was held on Monday in Mitchelsto­wn Parish Church, with burial to Brigown new Cemetery.

To his daughters, Martina and Orla; sons-in-law, Barney (Molloy) and Pat (Keohane); grandchild­ren, Zoe, Sue, Daniel and George; brothers, Michael, Pa, Ned; twin sister, Eliza (O’Flaherty); sisters, Nora (Carroll) Mary (Feeney) and Nell (Burke); sister-inlaw; brother-in-law; nieces; nephews; grandniece­s; grandnephe­ws; God children; cousins; neighbours; and many friends, we tender our sincere sympathy.

Sister Margart Burke

The death occurred on July l at the Convent of Mercy Sisters and staff, Carrick-on-Suir, of St Margaret Burke, also formerly of Mercy Convent, Cahir.

The late Sr Margaret was a native of Kildorrery. Her Funeral was held in private in accordance with Government guidelines and HSE regulation­s regarding public gatherings. Requiem Mass was held in St Mary’s Church, Cahir, on Saturday, with burial to the adjoining cemetery.

To her nephews, Edmund, Tom and Michael; sister-in-law, Sheila; her Mercy Sisters; extended family; and friends, we tender our sincere sympathy.

Nora ‘Noreen’ Condon

The death occurred on July 4 of Nora Condon (née Lomasney) at Marian Square, Fermoy.

A very popular member of the community, she was predecease­d by her husband, Larry. Her Funeral was held in private in accordance with Government guidelines and HSE regulation­s regarding public gatherings. Requiem Mass was held in St Patrick’s Church, Fermoy, on Monday, with burial to Kilcrumper Old Cemetery.

To her son, Declan; daughter, Margaret (Kiely); daughter-in-law, Eleanor; brother-in-law, Brendan; grandchild­ren, Laurance, Jason and Emma; aunt, Bridie (Power); nephews, Brendan, Ivan, Laurance, Brian, Alan and Ronan; grandnephe­ws; grandniece­s; relatives; neighbours and many friends, we tender our sincere sympathy.

Daniel Chawke

The death occurred unexpected­ly on June 28 of Daniel Chawke, Mallow

Road, Doneraile. The late Daniel was very well known locally.

In accordance with Government guidelines and HSE regulation­s regarding public gatherings, his Funeral was held in private. Interment took place to Oldcourt Cemetery, Doneraile,

Sister Gertrude ‘Kay’ McSweeney

The death occurred unexpected­ly at the Sisters of Our Lady of the Missions Kent, St Anne’s Convent, Kent, England, on June 29 of Sister Gertrude (Kay) McSweeney, Tully, Glenroe.

The late Sister Gerturde was a member of a very well known family in the Glenroe area.

Her Funeral was held in the Community Sisters in Kent.

A Memorial Mass will be held at a later date in her memory.
