Games in the JAHC will get underway the weekend August 2. From Group 1

Clyda Rovers and Kilshannig is a big game. Clyda are the defending champions. They face a strong Kilshannig side.

Fermoy and Liscarroll/Churchtown Gaels are also in this group. Gaels have played a number of challenge games. They will be all out get this championship off to a winning start. Fermoy have plenty of players. They won the County Under 21 A HC title last year and will be formidable opponents for any one.

In Group 2 the meeting of Harbour Rovers and Ballygiblin will be a big ‘local derby’ to start off the programme. This is a vital game with the winner very likely to make the knockout stages. Buttevant and Charleville are also in this group. They clash in their first round.

In group (2) Killavullen met Dromina. Killavullen won the Divisional Under B HC last year and reached the Co final where they lost out to Castlemartyr. They have a good blend of youth and experience and their game with Dromina should be very close. The winner of that game has a huge chance of getting out of the group. Doneraile and Ballyclough are also in this group. They also meet on the weekend of August 2.

Group 4 has only three teams Ballyhooly, Shanballymore and Castletownroche. Ballyhooly would be the form team in this group that will only two coming through. Shanballymore may just about have enough to gain the second spot but Castletownroche are never easily beaten.

Ballyhooly have been at the knock-out stages in recent years. They lost the finals of 2016 and 2017 to Harbour Rovers and Dromina respectively. Barry Johnson of Bride Rovers is now a new plaeyr for Ballyhooly and his presence should make a huge difference to their progress.

In the JAFC Charleville would be fancied to come out of their group along with Liscarroll/Churchtown Gaels. In group 2 Fermoy’s second team have a very good chance of getting to the knock-out stages. In Group 3 Kilworth should progress from their games with Ballyhooly and Grange.
