Draws made for Muskerry’s June 26 return to action

-

THE Muskerry GAA Board have made arrangements for the commencement of their adult championships as the lock down caused by Covid-19 has been lifted. The weekend of July 26 will see the opening rounds of the Ross Oil Junior Football Championship and this division’s most popular competition has some attractive first round pairings. The draw resulted as follows:

Ballincollig v Blarney

Éire Óg v Grenagh

Canovee v Aghinagh Clondrohid v Beal Athan Ghaorthaidh Cill na Martra v Kilmurry Inniscarra v Iveleary Kilmichael v Donoughmore

The most exciting first round game could be the encounter involving reigning champions Iveleary and Inniscarra. These two clubs produced a good hour’s football in 2015 when the former had a slight edge so Inniscarra, who currently have good adult football talent could give their football fortunes a significant boost. There will be a second chance for the participants and there will be a draw between the seven first round losers to decide the pairings.

There are ten clubs in the M.J.K. Oils Junior Hurling Championship.

Round (1) Draw Kilmichael v Blarney Eire Og v Ballinora Donoughmore v Cloughduv Aghabullogue v Iveleary Inniscarra v Ballincollig

Similar to the junior football, the first round losers will go into the hat for the second round pairings. Six of the ten teams in this junior championship are second choice teams and one wonders will one of that group again this year capture the blue riband of Muskerry hurling.

Cloughduv had that achievement last season and they could hold on to their title while four of the additional second choice squads, Éire Óg, Ballincollig, Inniscarra and Blarney could also be very much in contention. Ballinora, however, appear to be the favoured club to garner the spoils but the August weekend action will tell a lot when all the teams will be in action at first round level.

The remaining first round adult championship draws are as follows:
