DENIS O’CONNELL

The death took place on Monday, June 15, of Denis O’Connell at Padre Pio Nursing Home, Churchtown.

From Sandfield Terrace, Denis worked for many years at An Post and CWU. He is predecease­d by his grandaught­er, Zoe; brothers, Harry and Tommy; sisters, Etta, Peggy and Mary; and survived by his wife, Sheila; son, Gerard; daughters, Denise and Mary; relations; neighbours and friends. Denis’ Funeral took place privately. To the O’Connell family, we extend our deepest sympathy.

KATHLEEN LYNCH (nèe O’Leary)

The death took place on Friday, July 3 of Kathleen Lynch at the Bons Secours Hospital, Cork.

From Killegroha­ne, Kathleen is predecease­d by her husband, Jack; brother, Michael; and sister, Eileen; and survived by her son, Frederick; and daughter, Ruth (von Teichman); brothers, Sean and Jerry; sisters Angela,

FREDDIE MILLERD

The death took place Tuesday, July 7, of Freddie Millerd at Marymount University Hospital and Hospice.

From Ahadillane and formerly of Upper Quartertow­n, Freddie is survived by his niece, Mary (O’Connor); nephews, Patrick and David; relations, neighbours and friends.

Freddie’s Funeral was held privately.

BRENDAN DEVLIN

THE death took place of Brendan Devlin on Thursday, July 9, at Marymount Hospice, Cork, after a short illness.

JOHN O’LEARY

The death took place at Cork University Hospital on Thursday, July 9, of John O’Leary of Dernville, Annabella.

Formerly of Crossfield, Ballycloug­h, John is survived by relations, neighbours and friends. John’s Funeral was held privately. To his family, we express our deepest sympathy.

MARY BUCKLEY (née Martin)

The final link of a generation of the hugely popular Buckley family was broken on Tuesday, July 7, with the passing of Mary Buckley at her home in St Anthony’s Park.

Formerly of Collon, County Louth,

Mary was wife of the late boxing great Dave Buckley. Throughout her life, Mary won loving admiration and respect from her 10 children, many relations, neighbours and friends.

She will be remembered for her gentle smile and kind greetings through her life.

During her 2.30pm Funeral Mass at St Mary’s, Mary was lovingly remembered in a very warm eulogy given by her son, Patrick (Pa). Mary is predecease­d by her husband, Dave; brother, Harry; and sisters, Eileen and Kathleen; and survived by her sons, David, Declan, Kevin, Mark and Patrick (Pa); daughters Olive, Margaret, Lucia, Lorraine and Catherine; brothers, Tom and Patrick; sister, Gretta; extended family, good neighbours and many friends.

Mary was laid to rest at St Joseph’s Cemetery on Thursday, July 9.
