BOHERBUE
FUNDRAISER
After a long and weary journey throughout the GAA stadiums in Duhallow, well known referee John Hartnett returned to his native sod for the final furlong of his challenge when he walked -- ran the nineteen GAA grounds in the Division in a gruesome test that commenced at the Glenlara venue at 12 midnight on Friday.
He travelled throughout the night in a fundraiser for Marymount Hospice and on arrival at his final destination he was greeted by a large and enthusiastic following, some of whom accompanied him on his final lap and the end of which he received a well merited round of applause.
By his side was his son Cormac, wife Eileen and family, his brother Thomas, Louise and family, his brother Jeremiah who now resides in the Ballyclough area, Munster Ladies football officer Jerome Casey, Sean Michael and Theresa Murphy, Eimear and Donal, Niall Murphy, Moira
Murphy, Ann O’Sullivan and well known GAA club officials Paul Shine and Tony Ankettell.
Many more waited at the finish line to hail a hero who had completed a tough and tiring test.
