Gardaí seeking witnesses to ‘serious assault’

GARDAÍ have renewed their appeal for witnesses in relation to as serious assault that occurred in a rural part of North Cork last Tuesday week.

On the evening in question a woman in her 20’s was walking along the road between Buttevant and Liscarroll when the driver of a car stopped and began speaking to her.

The male then proceeded to assault the woman and left the scene. The woman was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment and was subsequent­ly discharged.

Gardaí have appealed for anyone who may have been travelling along the R522 Buttevant to Liscarroll road between 6.30pm and 9.30pm on the evening of Tuesday, September 15 and who may be able to help them in the investigat­ion into the incident to contact them.

In particular, they are appealing to any road users who may have dashcam footage shot in the area between the specified times.
