Mallow’s Cool Walkers community

-

THE Cool Walkers started back at the end of May this year when only six people were allowed in a walking group.

The Walkers group has grown from strength to strength and with membership reaching 30 now. The Cool Walkers meet every Tuesday morning at 11 am while mostly walking in the Castle grounds as walking through the town is not ideal with the Covid pandemic.

There is a mixed group of all ages from 26 to 74 on the walks. All participants are strong, cool walkers, all from different walks of life with varying interests and hobbies.

Walkers with dogs are welcome as they have 3 four legged friends on their books already.

Contact tracing and social distancing is observed, yet all the while making their walk a fun sociable weekly event.

Mallow Community Health Project is also running a strollers walking group on a Wednesday morning at 11 am. These walkers enjoy a leisurely weekly walk trough the Castle grounds, and will be taking part in National Walking Day on next Sunday.

Occasionally the group walk in Doneraile Park and treat themselves to a picnic afterwards.

Mallow Community Health Project are also running four yoga classes: one in the Castle Grounds on a Saturday morning, and three yoga classes at the underground car park at Le Cheile FRC.

They are involved with Cork Sports Partnership, Mallow CDYS and Cycling Ireland in a ‘Learn to Cycle’ initiative, for 6 to 9 year olds at the Blue Cube Complex, Goulds Hill.

Mallow Community Health Project will always be looking at initiatives that will benefit the health and wellbeing of people in the Mallow area in a safe and supportive manner.
