SPORTSFIELD DRAW WINNERS

The first draw for 2020 was held on Sunday last with great support from the local area and indeed from outside Banteer, Cork County and Ireland.

Winners: €400 Ronan Buckley Lackaneen ,€200 Tony McMahon and €100 each to Mike Helen Murphy Gortmore, Lisa Ann Moran, Con O’Keeffe Duinch, Seán Sheehan Newry.

Many thanks to all for support and to ticket sellers. The next draws are end Oct, Nov and December.

As a community we need to raise about €300,000 of matching funds to complete the full project over five years and we are on target to raise this with 2020 being year three of the five-year plan. The target is to raise this via the annual €100 user’s ticket draw and company support. Banteer Community Sportsfield request that all community members continue to support the annual supporters/users fundraising draw costing €100 p.a. All contributors will be entered into a draw for cash prizes with a total prize fund of €4,000 per annum plus additional vouchers etc. Tickets are still available at €75 for last three draws.

The second phase of the major €1.65m project to build a regulation sized astroturf pitch for all sports plus a new community building with new changing rooms, toilets, disabled facilities, spectator stand area, museum and tea room facility is now under way at the famous Banteer Sportsfield.

The contract for the new building development was awarded to Thomas and Diarmuid O’Keeffe Banteer with Ashgrove Engineering, Envirobead, Tadgh O’Keeffe and Sons, Ducon Concrete and Premier Tech as sub-contractors. Construction is expected to be complete in six months’ time. O’Shea Leader are the consulting engineers on the project working with the Banteer Sportsfield Committee.
