Charleville and Kanturk looks just too close to call

- BY DIARMUID SHEEHAN

Charleville v Kanturk Saturday, September 26 Mallow 2pm

FROM a north Cork standpoint, the game between Charleville and Kanturk next weekend is just about as big as it possibly gets.

Two teams that have been improving year on year from junior to senior grade – two teams that have gone all the way to Croke Park representing their club, their county and their province – two teams that have for the last decade or so brought light to their respective localities because of their skills, their passion and their dedication to the hurling cause.

This Saturday in Mallow, two of the best hurling sides in the county will lock horns for a place in the SAHC final and I for one just can’t wait. A game for the hurling purists is on the cards this Saturday.

Players of the quality of Aidan Walsh, Anthony Nash, Lorcan McLoughlin will square up face to face with the likes of Darragh Fitzgibbon, Danny O’Flynn, Mark Kavanagh and Jack O’Callaghan.

I genuinely couldn’t tell you who will win this weekend. Both sides have all the credentials required. Both sides have the right to feel that they were worthy of a place at Premier Senior and both didn’t get the call. Darragh Fitzgibbon has been magnificent this season and is likely to remain so this weekend.

Kanturk have power, pace and ability all over the pitch and that may well tell at the death. Result: I am going for a one point win but couldn’t tell you who will advance. Extra time a likely result.

This game really deserves a crowd.
