North Cork’s ‘Culinary Celt’ focuses on role food can have in wellbeing
THE Culinary Celt, north Cork’s Cathy Fitzgibbon, has contributed to a book series for millennials which focuses in the role that food can have on positive mental health.
Wellbeing is the core theme of the recent addition to the Book Hub Publishing Group’s ‘Mental Health for Millennials’ book series and Cathy has contributed a culinary chapter to this fourth volume of the book series, adding to her input in the series’ previous volume.
Cathy feels that lock-down is an opportune time to get the message out about the important role of food on wellbeing Her brand, ‘ The Culinary Celt’, was born out of her love of food and nature and her desire to share knowledge and back to basic truths about food.
Cathy maintains that the narrative needs to move away from dieting culture to eating more mindfully, locally and with the seasons.
“Take North Cork here, for example, we have an abundance of fresh local produce on our doorstep,” she says.
With multiple reasons why so many teens and young adults are having unhealthy relationships with food and having difficulties communicating with peers, parents and professionals, Cathy’s chapter, titled ‘ The Millennial Appetite for Culinary
Wellness’, aims to help readers gain a better understanding about the importance of food in relation to their overall wellbeing.
As life can be complex for teens and millennials with the age of the Internet and ‘wearable technologies’ presenting many challenges, this book, along with the other books in the series provide a reading resource tool that intends to inspire and educate millennials on a range of diverse topics such as habit formation, self-esteem, music, resilience and sport.
