COVID VACCINE

Great to see a buzz around Macroom last Friday and Saturday as the over-85s arrived in force to be vaccinated. A light at the end of this long tunnel.

There is a strong possibility if some of those senior citizens were asked last year would they take the vaccine, a little hesitation would probably have existed, but now safe to say after a year of lockdowns, almost everyone just wants to get that vaccine, the sooner the better.

But please remember to continue to adhere to Level 5 restrictions for at least another month or so, we are getting there, but we must continue to wear our masks, keep our distance sanitize and before long we will all be able to get back to some normality. The good weather gives us all that buzz, but unfortunately we still need to be mindful of each other, numbers are still that bit high. As mentioned before Alone manage a national support line for older people. Professional staff are available to answer queries and give advice and reassurance where necessary. The support line is open seven days a week 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. by calling 0818 222024.
