Parish mourning a wonderful, warm and kind Lindsey Cott
CASTLEMAGNER Community Development Association would like to extend good wishes to all children, students, teachers, and childcare practitioners who return to school and creche this week. Hopefully, it won’t be too much longer until everyone can resume to school safely.
The community proposed three-year plan is still on display on the notice board at the Community Centre in Castlemagner with a map of the locality. This will be taken down next week to put up a display to celebrate Lá le Pádraig.
At this time, we need to be especially mindful of those most vulnerable in our community. Even a phone call from a friendly neighbour, relative or friend to these members in our community might be just the lifeline they need to keep connected and know they are being thought of.
TIDY TOWNS
THE committee has submitted a grant application on behalf of the community to Supervalu Tidy Towns. We also submitted a lovely video of some of the work completed throughout 2020, made for us by Alan Gould. The video is available to see on the Castlemagner Community Development
Association Facebook page. As we have been unable to run usual fundraising activities grant monies are vital. Despite restrictions last year a lot of work was completed by many willing volunteers (while following public health guideline) making our community a nicer place to live, work and visit. It is hoped that work can recommence as soon as deemed safe to do so, but for now we must stick to the public health plan.
Our thanks to local volunteers who have managed (and take justifiable pride!) in keeping drains open to prevent flooding on the roads. In the floods of last week this work was especially appreciated.
SPRING CLEAN LITTER PICK
We would like to thank all those who currently in their family group/bubble are picking up litter while exercising within their 5km. In accordance with public health guideline we cannot currently organise a Community Spring Clean, but we are encouraging people (either as individuals or in their family/bubble) to pick up rubbish in Castlemagner, Cecilstown villages or on local roads. If safe to do so, please segregate rubbish into recyclable or landfill.
We would kindly ask you to dispose of rubbish in your own bins, or alternatively phone/text Hazel on 087 6913660 and we will organise that a committee member collects the bag of rubbish and disposes appropriately. Please follow safety guidelines and wear gloves or use litter pickers. Please do not handle PPE gear, broken glass, or soiled nappies. If you notice any large-scale fly tipping, please again let us know and we will organise that it is removed. Thank you for your assistance in keeping our community clean and safe for all to enjoy.
CASTLEMAGNER SPRING STATIONS: VILLAGE AND COUNTRY AREAS
Due to Covid-19 restrictions no house stations will be held this Spring. Instead, a single Station Mass for the whole Parish of Castlemagner (all village and country areas), will be celebrated (without a congregation) in Kanturk Church at 7.30pm on Wednesday 10th March. The Mass will be live-streamed on www.churchservices.tv/kanturk and broadcast on parish radio: tune your radio to 107.2fm.
CASTLEMAGNER GAA SYMPATHY Castlemagner GAA Club members and indeed everyone in Castlemagner parish were heartbroken last week to learn of the death of Lindsey Cott.
Lindsey was the wife of valued long time player Jack, and daughter-in-law of club chairman Johnny. The parish is in deep mourning after the loss of such a wonderful, warm, and kind person whose battle to stay alive ended on Tuesday 23rd February.
Lindsey, in her all too short time with us in Castlemagner, had woven herself into the fabric of the community and anyone who had the pleasure of being in her company would leave being all the better for it.
The club extends sincere sympathy to
Jack, Johnny and Bob and to the Cott and
Fallon families on the passing of Lindsey.
Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.
