- Annemarie Byrne Jonty Crosse

The judges for the upcoming Newmarket GAA Club OsKars night on April 26 have been revealed.

Fittingly, it’s a star-studded team who will judge the series of short films produced by local groups in support of the local GAA club - and a very great deal of local entertainment.

The judges for OsKars night are:

Don Wycherley is an Irish actor known for his work in film, television and theatre. He has appeared in various Irish and international productions, including the TV series ‘Bachelors Walk’ and the films ‘Michael Collins’ and ‘Veronica Guerin’, among a broad repertoire.

Bríd Stack is an Irish sportsperson, best known for her achievements in ladies’ Gaelic football. She’s one of the most decorated players in the history of the sport, having won 11 All-Ireland titles with the Cork ladies’ football team. Mick Galwey is a former Irish rugby union player. He represented Shannon, Munster and Ireland in both provincial and international level during his career. Galwey is known for his physical presence on the field and his contributions to the Irish rugby scene in the 1990s.

After retiring from professional rugby, he has been involved in coaching and media work, offering insights into the game.

Michael Patrick is a talented actor hailing from Newmarket. With a passion for the arts, he has captivated audiences with his compelling performances on both the big screen and the stage.

Michael is best known for his roles in ‘Becoming Jane’, ‘Frontier’, ‘Smother’ and the Oscar nominated film ‘An Cailín Ciúin’.

MR & MRS NIGHT

There were fun and frolics aplenty as courageous couples came together to fight it out for the ultimate Mr & Mrs Title on Friday last in Quinlan’s Bar, Meelin, presented by the cast of ‘The Snapper’.

Once again, there was an excellent and good humoured turnout for the event with Quinlan’s pub splitting at the sides. The compère of the evening was the one and only Andy Walsh who did a brilliant job making sure nobody had any secrets afterwards!

Congratulations to all who were brave enough to take part and especially to the winners, PJ and Mary O’Keeffe, and the runners up, Marie and John McCarthy!
