Gold Fever hair extensions are back

- By Niamh Walsh

IRISH hair extension brand Gold Fever is available once again after a brief legal tangle.

Owned by businesswoman Katie-Jane Goldin and her brother David Gold, the company was involved in a US court battle with a rival extensions brand.

The action was taken by Great Lengths over a non-compete clause – signed by Mr Gold when he left that company – resulting in a temporary ban on the selling of Gold Fever.

Mr Gold co-founded Great Lengths in 1993 with Matteo Antonino. He left in 2011, selling his shares to Antonino.

Great Lengths argued that Gold Fever had agreed not to compete with it in exchange for €25m until 2019.

However, the defendants said that they were not running Gold Fever and that the people in charge did not have any contract with the rival company.

It was initially thought the ban would last 23 months but Gold Fever is back in salons after just three months.

Model Georgia Penna was delighted that the ban was lifted and last week flew Dublin hair extension expert Ceira Lambert to London to do her Gold Fever extensions.

On its Instagram page, Gold Fever said: ‘Today we are proud to announce that Gold Fever, the hair extensions brand born out of pure passion, hard work and determination, is here to grow, blossom and sustain.’

Gold Fever has asked that arbitration be held in Italy, where the company is based.
